About Us Darren Arthur started collecting and cutting gems way back in 1972. Constantly building on his knowledge and with a keen eye, making interesting discoveries. In 1985 a new gem “Rainbow Lattice Sunstone” was found in the Northern Territory, Australia by Darren and a friend. Since then he has made notable observations, finding “Prase Opal” and “Evergreen Opal” and then sourcing these unusual materials. We are always on the lookout for something new and exciting as well as old materials that are no longer available. In 1988 along with wife “Lynne” we purchased an established business “Big R Lapidary” in Melbourne. We changed the name to Dazlyn Gems and built a well known business with a reputation based on knowledge, honesty and ability. We are current members of the “Gemmological Association Of Australia”. With diplomas in Gemmology, Diamond Technology and Jewellery Valuing. We manufacture, remodel and repair jewellery on site with original, custom and traditional designs.
